We had a good practice run last night. It was a reminder to us veterans of many things we've forgotten and a good familiarization for our rookies. It was a nice night and things went well. We learned a lot which will help things go smoothly in June.
Today, the winds were off-the-hook! From the NW at 30 with gusts up to 40! Normally, not a good day to ride, but I am determined to ride every day I can from here till June. So, I put the aero bars on the Orbea and headed out to Seguin (with the wind). I had a good ride with the wind at my back most of the time. On the tailwind legs, I was averaging about 29 mph, but when I turned into the wind, I immediately dropped down to about 11 mph and had trouble keeping the bike upright.
Claire met me in Seguin and we had lunch before going home. No way I was gonna attempt to ride home into that wind!
