The calm before the storm, I'm afraid. I started off the morning having 4 new shocks for breakfast. After that ordeal, we drove up the coast to La Jolla to see the beach. Then, back to Point Loma for a few last minute supplies: mesh laundry bag, highlighters, water sprayer, etc. We met for dinner at a Southwest favorite - Fillippi's in Little Italy. "I can't believe I ate the whole thing!" (Well, I didn't - I couldn't.)
We are meeting in the parking lot at 0830 to try to shoehorn all the stuff into the XTerra. Then it's off to breakfast, a few errands in Oceanside, then off to the start line. At 1200, Danny and I will roll down the ramp, and at least for a while, we'll lead the Race Across the West! The plan is for us to ride about 150 miles to Brawley, CA. Ron and Rick will take over at dusk and ride through the night while we rest. Thursday will be a day of climbing.
I'll try to update this as we go, but we'll have to see how much time I have -- race day is finally here!
